HLTAID010 – Provide Basic Emergency Life Support
Nationally Recognised Training
Delivered in accordance with Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines
Having the skills, knowledge and confidence to recognise, respect and respond to life-threatening emergencies can save a person's life.
This course teaches essential first aid skills in line with legal, workplace and community requirements, Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines and other Australian national peak clinical bodies.
Participants will learn how to assess casualties, provide safety, access emergency services and use first aid resources effectively.
The course covers CPR, defibrillator use, assisting with anaphylaxis using an autoinjector, asthma medication assistance, choking management, bleeding and shock management.
This course is delivered as a blended program combining online learning with face-to-face practical training.

- Practical face-to-face training and assessment

Throughout this course, participants will develop the skills and confidence required to respond effectively during emergency situations.
- Basic anatomy and physiology and the differences between adults, children and infants relating to CPR
- The importance of the chain of survival
- How to convey accurate details when handing a casualty over to emergency services
- How to review an incident to improve personal skills and response times
- Recognising psychological impacts following an incident and seeking support when required
This course is available in flexible training formats to suit different learning needs.
Refresher Training
Designed for participants with current or recently expired qualifications. This streamlined session focuses on updating practical skills.
Duration: 3 hours face-to-face
Blended Delivery
Combines self-paced online learning with a focused practical workshop.
Duration: 2.5 hours online learning + 3 hours face-to-face
Full Face-to-Face Instruction
Ideal for new learners or participants who prefer comprehensive classroom guidance.
Duration: Minimum 4 hours supervised classroom instruction
Online with Face-to-Face Assessment
Complete theory online before attending an intensive practical assessment session.
Duration: Minimum 35 minutes practical assessment
Your skills and knowledge will be assessed through a combination of practical hands-on tasks, simulated emergency scenarios and a short written test.

Per Participant
Includes training, assessment and nationally recognised certification upon successful completion.
To participate in this course, students must be physically able to complete the practical activities required.
This includes performing:
- 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on the floor without stopping

- Computer, tablet or smartphone
- Internet connection

HLTAID010 – Provide Basic Emergency Life Support
HLTAID009 – Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
In line with the First Aid in the Workplace Code of Practice and Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines, this certificate has an industry renewal recommendation of every 3 years.
CPR and advanced resuscitation skills (HLTAID009/HLTAID015) should be refreshed every 12 months to remain current and confident.
