Advanced CPR, resuscitation and oxygen therapy skills
Our Advanced Resuscitation Course is delivered in accordance with Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines and the First Aid in the Workplace Code of Practice.
This course is designed for anyone who may need to provide advanced first aid, CPR and oxygen therapy in challenging workplace or community situations.
Through realistic, hands-on scenarios, participants will learn how to use and maintain specialised equipment for first aid, resuscitation and oxygen delivery.
This course is delivered as a blended program combining online learning with face-to-face practical training.
- Online pre-course learning component
- Practical advanced resuscitation training and assessment
- Training available at your workplace or a Heart Restart training venue
This course develops advanced resuscitation skills and practical knowledge required to confidently manage complex emergency situations.
- Advanced CPR and first aid techniques
- Safe administration of oxygen at the correct flow rate
- Use of airway adjuncts to assist with maintaining clear airways
- Controlling life-threatening bleeding using tourniquets and haemostatic dressings
- Recording casualty information and completing workplace incident documentation
- Post-incident debriefing, recognising areas for improvement, understanding psychological impacts and seeking support when required
Pre-Course Online Learning
Complete the online learning component prior to attending practical training.
Duration: 2 hours
Face-to-Face Training
Practical advanced resuscitation and oxygen therapy training.
Duration: 4–5 hours
Your skills and knowledge will be assessed through a combination of practical hands-on tasks, simulated emergency scenarios and a short written test.
- Practical resuscitation skill demonstrations

- Written knowledge assessment
Per Participant
Includes online learning, practical training, assessment and nationally recognised certification.
To participate in this course, students must be physically able to complete the practical activities required.
This includes:
- Performing 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on the floor without stopping
- Participating in practical emergency response activities
To complete the online/pre-course study component, students will need access to:
- Computer, tablet or smartphone
- Internet connection
When you successfully complete this course, you will receive a Statement of Attainment including the following nationally recognised units:
HLTAID009 – Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
HLTAID015 – Provide Advanced Resuscitation and Oxygen Therapy
This course has a prerequisite of:
HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid
In line with the First Aid in the Workplace Code of Practice and Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines:
- First aid certificates should be renewed every 3 years.
- CPR and advanced resuscitation skills (HLTAID009/HLTAID015) should be refreshed every 12 months to stay current and confident.
